α7 nAChR

Definition

Found on macrophages and other immune and non-immune cells, this receptor mediates acetylcholine's anti-inflammatory effects. When activated by acetylcholine released by the vagus nerve, it inhibits the release of many inflammatory mediators including TNF-α and HMGB1.
